The Drug and Alcohol Multicultural Education Centre (DAMEC) is a not-for-profit organisation and a leading agency that aims to reduce the harm associated with Drug and Alcohol issues in NSW amongst Culturally and Linguistically Diverse (CALD) populations.  DAMEC is seeking to employ a CALD Alcohol and Drug Counsellor on a fixed term 6-month contract to support the Clinical Services team in our Liverpool office. 

  • Full time
  • SCHADS level 3 pay point (1-4) (dependant on experience) 
  • 6 months fixed-term contract 

Selection Criteria:

  • Demonstrated awareness and sensitivity to CALD communities
  • Knowledge of case management & counselling principles and case management & counselling experience
  • Experience in and commitment to promoting improved health outcomes for people from CALD backgrounds
  • Tertiary qualifications in health or related discipline
  • Experience in assessment, referral and counselling
  • Experience in working independently and as part of a multidisciplinary team
  • Sound written & communication skills
  • Demonstrated computer literacy
  • Knowledge of community services in NSW
  • Demonstrate cultural sensitivity
  • Current NSW drivers’ licence

Desirable Criteria

  • Additional CALD Language (preferred but not essential)
  • Experience in the AOD and/or related field (highly regarded but not essential)

The focus of the clinical service is to increase access to treatment for clients from culturally and linguistically diverse (CALD) backgrounds within the Western Sydney and Southwest regions.
