The Role

We are seeking a talented and highly motivated candidate with experience in the Renewables sector as an Engineer.

Key responsibilities:

  • Provide technical support to the Development - Technical Services Team for various renewable energy sites including:
    • Preliminary wind energy analysis using WindPro, OpenWind, Meteodyn and WAsP.

    • Preliminary noise and shadow flicker using WindPro.

    • Layout and energy resource optimisation.

    • Identification and technical resolution of EMR, TV, Communications, Aviation and high-level grid connection issues.

    • GIS Mapping to produce maps and presentations as required using Manifold.

    • Attend stakeholder meetings and prepare materials, particularly for technical authorities.

    • Attend Public Exhibitions and Conferences.

  • Work with the Renewables Engineering Manager to manage wind and solar monitoring programs across the development portfolio and manage the monitoring datasets across all projects in accordance with Squadron Energy procedures.
  • Facilitate the installation of monitoring equipment to a high standard including procurement of services/equipment, managing contractors and overseeing or performing installations in remote site areas.
  • Undertake site visits to review sites, collect onsite data and identify constraints using photos, GPS measurement and any other tools applicable.
  • Support business development activities including preparation of tenders, provide input to financial models and travel within NSW and inter-state to attend meetings and conferences as required.
  • Provision of written material and presentations regarding technical issues for inclusion in board papers, workshops, investment memorandums and permitting documents as required.
  • Continually learn new technical skills and keep up to date with market and industry technology, to deliver the responsibilities of the role.
  • Undertake and participate in all Squadron Energy standard processes including but not limited to administrative requirements associated with time keeping, expenses, accounting, attendance at company events and training requirements.
  • Manage and lead the work of a team; provide motivation, encouragement, and opportunities for development; manage any underperformance issues if required in consultation with People and Culture; actively monitor leave requests of team.

About you

You will have:

  • Minimum four (4) years' experience as an Engineer within the wind industry, onshore and offshore.
  • Engineering Degree (Mechanical or similar)
  • Completion of professional training in WindPRO, Meteodyn WT, Vaisala Windcube Level 1
  • Proven experience in wind and solar farm layout design and optimisation.
  • Hands-on experience in the installation of monitoring equipment in remote areas, with expertise in procurement, equipment, and contractor management. Established relationships with Australian industry suppliers.
  • Solid background in safety protocols and practices within the renewable energy sector, specifically onshore and offshore wind.
  • Assessment of other technical aspects of project design including noise, shadow flicker, EMI etc.
  • Strategic planning and resource optimisation skills, with experience in long-term planning for maintenance campaigns in the renewable energy sector.
  • A current Australian driver’s licence
