The Role 

We are seeking a talented and highly motivated Accounts Officer who will be responsible for incoming invoices and payments, in compliance with financial reporting and other administrative duties. 

Key responsibilities: 

  • Capture approved data to the appropriate system, including but not limited to supplier invoices and customer receipts and matching with purchase orders where relevant.   
  • Checking and verifying invoices.  
  • Prepare supplier payments including posting to the general ledger, preparation of document batch, and creation of payment in online banking system.  
  • File documentation in accordance with procedures.  
  • Support the month end process by providing supporting documentation for month end journals where necessary.  
  • Verify bank accounts of new suppliers or when suppliers have changed bank accounts.  
  • Identify improvements to the accounts payable process.  
  • Verify and process employee expense claims and manage the approval and payment process where necessary.  
  • Working with both internal and external stakeholders to resolve any queries or issues. 
  • Assist colleagues in the Finance team as required. 

About you 

You will have: 

  • Minimum of 2 years’ experience in processing accounts receivable. 
  • Strong understanding of basic accounting and accounts payable principles. 
  • Proven ability to calculate, post and manage financial records. 
  • Accurate data entry skills. 
  • Intermediate computer software skills, including Excel and Accounting packages. 
  • Tertiary qualifications in Accounting or Commerce (desirable).
