ORGANISATION PROFILE
Cumberland Women’s Health Centre (CWHC) is a not-for-profit community organisation that works with women who experience family and domestic violence, trauma, and disadvantage in the Parramatta/Cumberland LGAs. The services we provide include case coordination support, advocacy, referral, counselling, case-management and health-centred groups and programs. Our services help women to regain control in their lives and thrive through the development of self-confidence; reducing social isolation and building social networks; reducing health inequities; and achieving economic independence.
POSITION SUMMARY
The position is responsible for:
- To provide short to medium term counselling to women who are financially or socially disadvantaged and have experienced Domestic and Family Violence and other issues.
- To provide support, advocacy, information and referral services
- Build and maintain partnerships with relevant stakeholders.
- To develop and facilitate community education and therapeutic workshops in response to local priorities
- To provide effective, efficient and timely services in a manner consistent with organisational philosophy, the state’s legislative and policy framework, organisational policies & procedures, service agreements and other legal requirements
- To demonstrate professional behaviour to clients, staff, management and staff in other service systems
ESSENTIAL SELECTION CRITERIA
- Relevant tertiary qualifications in Psychology / social work or equivalent relevant qualification.
- 3 years or more experience in short to medium term counselling.
- Demonstrated experience in running therapeutic projects.
- Understanding of the NSW Justice System and Safer Pathways which is a model of service delivery for DFV services users developed as a part of the NSW Government DFV Framework for reform
- Demonstrated interest in and knowledge of women’s health issues, including domestic and family violence issues.
- Demonstrated commitment to feminist practice and social justice.
- Demonstrated experience and sensitivity to working with women from diverse cultural and economic backgrounds and ages
- Excellent interpersonal skills, with the ability to build and maintain working relationships across all levels of an organization, with key stakeholders and with members of the community.
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
- Computer skills include word processing, spreadsheet, and database applications.
- Current Police Check & WWCC
DESIRABLE SELECTION CRITERIA
- Member or eligibility to be member of the Australian Association of Social Workers
- Ability to speak more than one language.
