About Community Resource Unit (CRU):
CRU exists to create and promote positive change so that people with disabilities can belong to and participate in community life.
Our mission is to inspire, challenge and equip people to embrace ideas, to take action and build a movement for change.
Purpose of position:
The Facilitator will work with the CRU team to deliver workshops, webinars, consultations, and group facilitation to people with disability, their families and disability service organisations. In doing this, the employee will further CRU’s goals to promote leadership development and positive change toward full and meaningful lives for people with a disability.
Key responsibilities for this position:
Conduct Capacity Building Activities
Work with individuals and families to build their knowledge and capacity individually and collectively.
- Be part of a team planning, conducting, and reviewing activities, workshops and events across Queensland that aim to promote the pursuit of better lives for people with disabilities and their families in Queensland.
- The Facilitator will respond to requests for information by individuals (phone, email and face to face) on a range of topics.
- The Facilitator will play a role in convening and facilitating groups of people with disabilities and families who wish to connect over topics of interest.
Undertake community and alliance building
Work in a community-building way. This way of work recognises the importance of relationships, networks and alliances. It fosters connections between people and builds capacity at local, state and/or national levels.
Help maintain/build CRU’s profile and reputation within the disability sector
Help represent CRU in relevant forums in the disability sector.
Complete organisational requirements
Take responsibility for a range of administration tasks relating to organising, promoting, and delivering events. Assist the CEO and organisation with project reporting requirements.
Key Selection Criteria:
- Demonstrated commitment to values and principles that support the human rights and dignity of people with a disability and their families through:
- Evidence of authentic connection with people with disabilities and their families
- knowledge of current issues and trends in the support of people with a disability and families.
- Demonstrated capacity to work constructively as a member of a team to complete funded projects on time, on budget and to meet associated reporting requirements.
- Experience in working with individuals and families to build their knowledge and capacity individually, collectively and in small groups.
- Experience in the design, development and dissemination of information to a wide audience utilising a range of adult learning techniques and information technologies. This work can range from face-to-face teaching to the written word and one-to-one conversations.
Specifications:
- The successful applicant will be required to produce or apply for NDIS Worker Screening Check and Working with Children Check.
- The ability to undertake regular, planned travel throughout Queensland is essential.
- The ability to undertake some work outside usual office hours is essential. Flex time can be taken at a later time that is mutually agreed by the employee and their supervisor.
- The role is based at the South Brisbane office with the option of working from home one day per fortnight.
- It is expected that the successful applicant will commence in early July 2025.
- The employee and the CEO will ensure the employee is aware of their level of performance outcomes and support required to achieve outcomes.
