  • Reports to: Committee of Management
  • Hours: 25 hours per week, worked during House opening hours, on agreed working days determined in consultation with the Committee of Management. Attendance at some after-hours events may be required.
  • Location: Crossenvale Community House, 28 Boothman Street, Echuca.
  • Classification: Social and Community Services Employee, NHACE Agreement 2016, Schedule 3B, Level 7.
  • Contract term: Ongoing
  • Conditions: Per Neighbourhood Houses and Adult Community Education Centres Collective Agreement 2016
  • Probationary period: 3 months

Our History

In 2004 the Shire of Campaspe signed up to a project named “Crossenvale – Laying the Foundations’. The project partners were named as the Department of Humans Services, Njernda and St Luke’s Anglicare. The project description was to ‘Build the capacity, pride and connectedness of the Crossenvale Estate community.

What we do

Crossenvale Community House in Boothman Street provides support and assistance to low income and unemployed families and any member of the Echuca community that requires our assistance in the way of Computer & Internet access, Phone use, Advocacy services, Community events (LGBTIQ+ & family inclusion events), Cuppa & Chat group, Garden Group and Garden projects group, and workshops and enterprise activities in our Coffee Van.

We also provide crisis response to families, individuals in the area living in public housing and low-income households, with access to free hygiene products, period packs, baby wipes, food relief items- frozen, fresh, pantry hampers. We also host free clothing, toys, footwear, toys etc giveaway days when we obtain new products to give out at Easter and Christmas time.

Crossenvale Community House is located in Echuca, we provide support and assistance to people living in Public Housing, low-income households who live in the area of our Community House.

ABOUT THE ROLE

Prime Purpose of Position

To manage the day-to-day operations of Crossenvale Community House (CCH) on behalf of its Committee of Management in accordance with the defined policies and procedures of the Community House.

Position Summary

The coordinator position is responsible for the overall management of the day-to-day activities of CCH Inc. In particular, to develop community development programs and projects to maintain and increase participation in accordance with the vision, mission and plans of the organisation and the expressed needs of the community. The role includes the financial and HR management of the organisation including the oversight of employees, contractors, and projects.

ABOUT YOU

  • Proven management experience (Preferable Community Services/ sector experience)
  • Financial Management Experience
  • Ability to Implement and review policy and procedures
  • Experience in the development of grant submissions for funding & acquittals as required.
  • A strong understanding of digital marketing, developing, and implementing marketing strategies and event coordination.
  • Demonstrated ability to work with individuals and families who display challenging and difficult behaviours when accessing the community house.
  • An understanding of the laws governing Victorian Child Safe Standards, Mandatory Reporting requirements for Neighbourhood Houses.
  • Strong interpersonal skills with ability to communicate with various community members.
  • Experience or exposure to Google Suite and Xero.
  • Ability to work autonomously, while maintaining strong communication with Volunteers and the Committee of Management.
  • Open, friendly, and outgoing personality.
  • Ability to prioritise tasks and multitask effectively, with an eye for attention to detail.
  • Ability to work in a face paced environment
  • Experience in working with complex clients, and manage clients
  • Commitment to fostering an open, welcoming, and supportive environment and ability to relate to a wide range of people from diverse backgrounds.

OTHER REQUIREMENTS

The manager must be willing to obtain:

  • National Police Check
  • Victorian Working with Children’s Check
  • First Aid Certificate & CPR
  • Food Handling Certificate
  • Victorian Driver’s License
  • Provision of COVID vaccination status.

SELECTION CRITERIA

Aboriginal and/or Torres Strait Islander people who meet the criteria are encouraged to apply.

The manager must be able to demonstrate:

  • Exhibit a strong command of community development principles and practices, ideally (not mandatory) with experience in a Neighbourhood House context.
  • Demonstrate proficiency in strategically planning revenue-generating events and devising strategies to translate foot traffic into income, aligning with CCH's financial objectives.
  • Skill in collaborative leadership and effective management of staff, volunteers, and Committee of Management.
  • The ability to represent, and advocate for the organisation and the community in a highly professional manner.
  • Proficiency in recruiting, employing, and managing staff including coordinators, tutors, project workers, and volunteers to ensure cohesion, productivity, and a collaborative work environment.
  • Strong interpersonal skills for effective communication with diverse backgrounds, including culturally and linguistically diverse groups, people with disabilities, low-income or unemployed individuals, and the elderly.
  • Relevant tertiary qualifications and/or substantial experience in the community sector, preferably including Neighbourhood House and community education involvement.
  • Highly developed written and oral communication skills and computer proficiency in the Office suite, email, and the online/social media environment as a minimum.
  • Experience with XERO or relevant book keeping software.

ADDITIONAL Information

Crossenvale Community House (CCH) currently operates out of an Office of Housing owned house in a residential street in the Crossenvale Estate in Echuca. This is an area of high needs with greater than average problems associated with unemployment, Domestic and Family Violence, single parenthood, drug use, mental health issues and transience.

An exciting and challenging opportunity exists for a Coordinator at the Crossenvale Community House in Echuca.

We are seeking a highly motivated and suitably qualified person for this on-going part-time position.
