About Us

Court Services Victoria provides corporate services and facilities to support the performance of the judicial, quasi-judicial and administrative functions of Victoria's courts and tribunal, Judicial College and Judicial Commission.

Collectively, Victoria's Supreme, County, Magistrates', Children's, and Coroners courts, the Victorian Civil and Administrative Tribunal (VCAT), the Judicial College of Victoria, the Judicial Commission of Victoria, and Court Services Victoria (CSV) are referred to as the ‘Courts Group'.

Our people enable the Courts Group to deliver on each jurisdictions own strategic priorities while also pursuing strategic opportunities that are interconnected and deliver benefits more broadly.

The Magistrates' Court of Victoria (MCV) is a jurisdiction within the Court Services Victoria statutory authority and has a long history of providing justice for the people of Victoria in metropolitan and regional courts across the state. The Court determines in excess of 300,000 cases per annum at 51 venues, equating to approximately 90 percent of all cases that come before Victorian courts each year. The Court aims to be an innovative, accessible, and responsive court that provides quality services to the Victorian community.

The Magistrates' Court of Victoria (MCV) is expanding the Assessment and Referral Court (ARC) to all headquarter courts, including Ringwood Court in September 2025. ARC and the Court Integrated Services Program (CISP) are part of a suite of therapeutic innovations at MCV. ARC is a solution-focused court underpinned by therapeutic jurisprudence and recovery- oriented mental health practice for people facing criminal matters who have a mental illness/or cognitive impairment. Hearings are less formal, non-adversarial and take a collaborative approach to address both well-being and the underlying causes of offending behaviours.

About the Role

The Advanced Case Manager plays a critical role in providing client centred, strengths based and solution-focussed advanced case management support to clients who are participating in CISP, and the ARC List as required, supporting clients with a range of complex psycho-social needs.

This role provides crucial contribution to a multidisciplinary team that includes a magistrate, lawyer, police and support persons. ARC provides non-adversarial, less formal hearings to review and support participant progress. You will be providing complex case management support using a holistic and collaborative approach. Eligible participants have a range of needs including mental illness and/or cognitive impairment, alcohol and substance issues, homelessness, family violence and/or limited social supports to recover or stabilise their condition.

This role provides a short term (up to 4 months) case management support to people on bail with a range of complex needs who are participating in the CISP. It also provides longer term (up to 12 months) case management support to people with complex mental illness and/or cognitive impairment needs who are participating in the ARC.

This is a rewarding therapeutic role, which operates within a highly collaborative and therapeutic court environment. You will contribute to recovery-oriented, non-punitive approaches within a multidisciplinary team to achieve best practice outcomes. You will make an expert contribution, grow your skills and mentor other practitioners where your professional insights are valued.

About You

You will be an experienced case manager with expertise in providing client centred, strengths based and solution focused support. Your other strengths will include:

  • Tertiary qualifications (Diploma level highly desirable) and/or relevant case management experience (such as forensic, family violence, AOD, homelessness and/or mental health).
  • Highly developed communication skills, especially with communicating hope and optimism for change and applying a person-centred and evidence-based approach to enhance the client's motivation.
  • Experience in or demonstrated capacity to provide coaching and mentoring to case managers, particularly with an area of advanced knowledge and experience.
