The Role

As the Senior Accountant, you will play a crucial role in our Finance and Corporate Services division, overseeing end-to-end finance functions including month-end reporting, payroll management, accounts payable and receivable, debtor management, and general finance administration. You'll also support corporate services areas such as security, waste, building maintenance, asset management, and fleet management. Your expertise will ensure we deliver exceptional service to our internal and external stakeholders.

Your key responsibilities include leading accurate, confidential, and customer-focused payroll services, managing end-to-end finance functions such as posting journals, general ledger reconciliation, and financial submissions, liaising with financial institutions to oversee investments, petty cash, and cash flow. You will also be responsible for preparing and submitting statutory returns to ensure compliance with BAS, PAYG, FBT, and grants acquittals, assisting with audits, maintaining the fixed assets register, and overseeing accounts receivable and payable. Additionally, you'll support the NDIS team with processing and reconciling funding, and provide essential financial administration and corporate service support, contributing to the development of policies and procedures.

The Ideal Candidate

The ideal candidate will possess a tertiary qualification in Accounting/Finance or equivalent, along with certification as a Chartered Accountant (CA) or Certified Practising Accountant (CPA) or be near completion. You will have at least two years of experience in a finance operations role, with desirable experience in the not-for-profit and/or community sector (but not essential).

Candidates should demonstrate awareness of the disability and not-for-profit sectors, and proficiency across operational finance areas including payroll administration, accounts receivable, accounts payable, debtor management, finance administration, reporting, and analysis. They should possess knowledge of payroll services and legislative requirements, including award-based payroll systems. Strong IT proficiency, encompassing payroll and workplace systems (such as QuickBooks, Attaché, EmpLive) and the Microsoft suite, is essential. Excellent written and oral communication skills, attention to detail, analytical abilities, and the capacity to work both independently and collaboratively with a high level of diplomacy, discretion, and confidentiality are also required.

Prior to appointment, candidates will be required to comply with ConnectGV's security screening process, which includes providing a NDIS Worker Screening Check, a National Police Check and a Working with Children check.
