Comm Unity Plus Services Ltd (operating as commUnity+) is a multidisciplinary organisation located in Melbourne’s western suburbs, delivering a range of prevention and early intervention programs focused on informing and engaging with our community. This is achieved via high quality Adult Education, Legal Services (Brimbank Melton Community Legal Centre), our Neighbourhood House program and Children’s Contact Service, as well as a range of community and individual development activities.
Reporting to the General Manager Family & Community Services, the Manager Legal Services will manage and oversee the day-to-day operations of the Brimbank Melton Community Legal Centre (BMCLC); developing leadership capability of its staff; identify and manage risk; reporting and evaluation and law reform support. This role includes direct supervision, support and mentoring of the Family Law Lead lawyer and the Generalist Lead lawyer, Administration Officers, and occasionally Community Lawyers (as required).
This is a leadership role suited for a legal practitioner with a Principal’s practising certificate and a passion for supporting and mentoring a team of dedicated and hard-working community lawyers. This role is responsible for delivering quality legal services that increase access to justice for the disadvantaged communities in the Brimbank and Melton LGAs with a focus on strengthening collaborative activities amongst impactful community-based services across western region.
A current Driver’s License and the ability to attend after-hour events where required is essential for this role.
Additionally, experience working with communities in the Brimbank Melton region, knowledge of a second language and the ability to occasionally work flexible hours to meet the requirements of the position, would be desirable.
