The Applicant

Community Connections is seeking a skilled worker to provide early intervention support to young people and their families where the young person is at risk of school disengagement. We invite applications from practitioners who are:

  • passionate about the issues young people face, including highly capable learners, neurodiverse young people and those with different abilities and
  • enjoy engaging in direct practice with young people and their networks.

We value the knowledge and skills of new graduates (in social work or similar professions such as community development, human services, education) and skilled practitioners alike and are willing to negotiate this role with the right applicant.

The Position

This is an exciting opportunity for someone with the skills and passion to support young people and their families with their social and emotional skills within 2 dynamic school communities. You will receive monthly supervision pro rata from a qualified practitioner, school holidays off work, and the opportunity to engage with a team of experienced and supportive colleagues.

The position is a part time fixed term contact for 23.1 hours a week in school terms. The position will commence in late January 2024. A delayed start could be negotiated if required. Remuneration is at a SCHCADS Level 3 (Social and Community Services Pay Scales). There is opportunity to increase your income through inclusion in our salary sacrificing program. About Community Connections

Community Connections works alongside young people (aged 12-18 years) and families where there are issues that could lead to early home leaving and/or early disengaging from school. Using an early intervention and community development framework, our work encompasses individual support, group and project work as well as creating links with the school and wider community.

Q4: As a practitioner, how are you committed to ethical practice, reflection on practice and ongoing professional growth?

Q5: Please confirm you have a driver’s license, access to a personal vehicle for work purposes, a current Blue Card, a current Yellow Card or NDIS Worker’s Screening Card and evidence of Fully Vaccinated against COVID19 including booster shots as required by the Public Health Order (PHO), “Workers in a Healthcare Setting (COVID-19 Vaccination Requirements) Direction.”
