These are full time, permanent positions living and working in remote communities across Western Australia, South Australia and the Northern Territory.
Ngaanyatjarra Pitjantjatjara Yankunytjatjara (NPY) Women’s Council was founded by and is led, governed and directed by women from the NPY region. It was created to give a voice to women across 26 desert communities in the cross-border regions of Western Australia, South Australia and the Northern Territory. Today, they continue to provide progressive, innovative and evidence-based work in service delivery, advocacy and support.
We are conducting a national talent search – free furnished accommodation, work car, generous relocation assistance, remote working allowances, retention bonus and impressive leave entitlements will be offered to the successful candidates as part of their package.
As one of the Youth Development Officers, you will be responsible for supporting youth programs in remote Aboriginal communities, with the assistance of Anangu Support Workers. Part of your role will be running activities for children and young people and providing case management and support to those at risk and inspire them to achieve their goals.
The successful candidates will be natural relationship builders with good communication and report writing skills. In addition, they will hold a relevant qualification in areas such as Sports & Recreation, Youth Work, Social Work or Community Services and ideally would have previous experience working at a similar level within remote or regional communities.
The personal qualities for these positions include social inclusion, compassion, resilience and determination. You will have a collaborative approach to stakeholder engagement and development, with the ability to engage, listen and deliver excellent service to the remote communities that you live and work in.
If you are a passionate advocate for the rights of Aboriginal & Torres Strait Islander peoples and community development and have the motivation and commitment to experience working in remote communities, then this may be the right opportunity for you to be an integral part of the program delivery team.
