About the Role:

This new Board Administrative Officer role will be responsible to the CAN Board and Chair for the secretarial management of board business. Reporting to the CEO, key duties and responsibilities of this role include attending and taking minutes at all Board and Audit and Risk Committee (ARC) meetings, to accurately document discussions, decisions and actions. Writing up minutes after meetings, preparing and circulating meeting agendas, including all necessary attachments (minutes, reports etc) to Board members and meeting attendees. Organising and coordinating Board and ARC meetings, including arranging venue, catering and online logistics.

With 15 meetings per year, entailing up to 11hrs of work per meeting, this is a contracted role requiring the provision of an ABN. CAN Board and ARC meeting schedules are set a year in advance, so availability for these meetings is essential, however the hours for the meeting preparation work is flexible so long as deadlines are met. With approximately half of meetings taking place online, and half in person at the King Street Arts Centre, this role would suit someone who is happy to work remotely, but is also able to attend meetings in person in the Perth CBD.

What We Offer:

Independent contractor role, with flexibility of work from home arrangements as well as attendance at pre-scheduled meetings (both online and in person).

$52.88/hr on presentation of an invoice quoting an ABN, plus superannuation at the level determined by the Superannuation Guarantee Act.

What You’ll Bring:

We are looking for someone who has a level of experience with Boards particularly for Not-for-profit organisations and an understanding of governance procedures and protocols. An excellent organiser, the successful candidate will be an efficient and accurate minute-taker with high-level written and verbal communication skills and a proven ability to fulfill tasks to completion and meet deadlines. An independent and mature worker, this role requires an adaptable problem-solver, with a demonstrated ability to maintain confidentiality, who is self-motivated, proactive, with a willingness to commit to CAN’s values of First Peoples first, Creativity, Respect and Social Equity.
