How this position will make the difference to the City of Melbourne

The City of Melbourne has a new Community Development Branch that is responsible for embedding community development principles and practice across the organisation. Our vision is to enable a just, inclusive and sustainable society where communities are empowered to meaningfully engage, participate and shape their own city. We are taking a place-based approach to how we understand and work with and for our communities, and look to create more value for community through our everyday work as we drive an inclusive and sustainable long-term recovery from Covid-19.

The team will be responsible for change management and related communications, evidence and measurement, coordinating branch systems and processes and governance support.

The Visual Communications Designer will deliver on the following priorities:

  • Present visual materials, and support colleagues in the presentation of materials, to maximise the impact of the content with our target audience.
  • Provide further support to colleagues by explaining design decisions and sharing knowledge of best practice for visual communications.
  • Collaborate with other members of the branch and organisation to build a collection of visual resources designed to fit our particular communications needs.
  • Coordinate the branch communications with other key branches to strengthen community development messages with internal and external audiences. Design key messages and materials to be consistent with City of Melbourne brand and style.
