How this position will Make the Difference to City of Melbourne…

City of Melbourne Libraries provide services online and from six locations to support our city, and everyone in it, to learn, create and contribute to our rapidly changing world. We continue to go from strength to strength to enhance our community, visitors, and staff to stay connected to learning, their community, and each other.

We are currently seeking enthusiastic casual Customer Service Library Technicians with excellent customer service skills to work on a casual basis across our six library service points. The role will provide high quality library and information services to the community and cover staff on leave/training.

What you will bring… (Selection criteria)

  • Ability to demonstrate and display City of Melbourne Values – accountability, integrity, courage, respect for self and others, and striving for excellence.
  • A minimum qualification of Associate Diploma of Applied Social Science (Library Technician) or equivalent.
  • Ability to effectively deal with challenging situations to deliver optimal outcomes.
  • Excellent communication skills (written and verbal) with high level literacy, numeracy, technology and information retrieval skills.
  • Ability to independently manage multiple and competing priorities within a high volume environment to ensure delivery of individual work timetable.
  • Excellent customer service skills with the ability to build relationships with internal and external stakeholders maintaining a flexible and positive approach.
  • Ability to display empathy and understanding with all sections of the community, including people from culturally and linguistically diverse (CALD) backgrounds and people with disabilities.
