Collingwood Children's Farm

The Events Coordinator reports to the Events Manager and is responsible for the implementation of Collingwood Children’s Farm’s events program.

Applicants must be available to work weekends and evenings a minimum of 23 hours per week.

Position Objective

The Events Coordinator is the frontline for events and venue hire. Events take place on weekends and evenings and include but are not limited to: Weddings, Live Music, Private Functions, Dinners, Workshops, Children’s Birthday Parties, and Whole-day Community Events. The Events Coordinator is to lead the efficient and effective delivery of exceptional and creative events services for the Farm.

Organisational Overview

The Collingwood Children’s Farm is an iconic not-for-profit urban farm situated on the Birrarung on Wurundjeri Land in Melbourne.

Boasting an extensive range of animals and garden spaces, it is open to the public all year-round offering visitors the experience of farm life in the inner city.

The farm operates a range of programs and activities supporting children and people experiencing adversity via their school educational tours, Young Farmers, and disability support programs. It also plays a key role in engaging the community by hosting several popular events that promote agriculture and local produce in Victoria.

The success of the farm relies heavily on word of mouth and the community effort with staff and volunteers working collaboratively to maintain the farm, keep it sustainable and to ensure visitors have a great experience.

KEY SELECTION CRITERIA

It is expected that the successful applicant will be able to demonstrate the following:

  • Significant experience in event and venue coordination.
  • Experience supervising staff and/or volunteers at events.
  • Demonstrated ability and familiarity with community organisations.
  • Open to new ideas and willing to embrace change in the face of ever-changing trends and landscape.
  • Excellent written, verbal, and interpersonal communication skills.
  • Self-starter who is willing to be accountable to stated goals.
  • Commitment to integrity, mission, and service.

Other

  • Commitment to the vision, philosophy, aims and objectives of Collingwood Children’s Farm.
  • Computer skills; proficiency in Microsoft applications.
  • Current Victorian Driver’s Licence, Working With Children check, National Crime Check and RSA.
  • All Farm staff are required to be fully vaccinated.
  • The farm sits on Wurundjeri Woi-wurrung Land and CCF works in partnership with Wurundjeri Woi-wurrung Cultural Heritage Aboriginal Corporation. Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islanders are encouraged to apply.
