About the role

The Social Care & Health Cluster in the College of Vocational Education is seeking recruit a Teacher to teach into the Certificate IV and Diploma of Youth work.

As a Youth Work/Community Support Teacher and practitioner, you will be mainly responsible for the delivery of course material, assessing students and the supervision of students enrolled in selected courses in the School. Participation in the School’s continuing reviews of course content and development, delivery, teaching methods (including on-line delivery methods) and methods of students’ assessment will also form part of this role. You will interact with external organisations, industry groups and RMIT teaching and administration staff. Your performance will be underpinned by participation in relevant activities which ensure your vocational competence meets and/or exceeds the education level being delivered and assessed.

About You

You will bring to the role the following skills and experience:

  • Teaching experience and currency in youth work, community support, trauma practice, mental health, family violence.
  • Effective interpersonal and communication skills relevant to teaching and consultancy environments (including presentation and facilitation skills)
  • Skills and experience in competency-based assessment.
  • The ability in ensuring current and contemporary vocational competence which meets and/or exceeds the education level being delivered and assessed.
  • The experience in relevant industry, and substantial discipline knowledge as it relates to this position.
  • Capacity to diagnose learning problems in students, propose and implement effective solutions.

Mandatory

Teaching experience in the Youth Work/ Community Service or related field

VET Teachers appointed to a continuing position are required to meet all the following minimum standards.

  1. Vocational Competencies - The appointee must be able to demonstrate vocational competencies at least to the level of those delivered.
  2. Assessment and Delivery Competencies

The appointee must hold the TAE40110 Certificate IV in Training and Assessment from the TAE10 Training and Education Training Package as a minimum qualification. This consists of 10 units (7 core and 3 electives).
