About the Role

As the Manager, Research Governance and Ethics, you will oversee the daily management and efficient delivery of research ethics and governance services across the RMIT Group. This includes gaining and maintaining ethics approvals, developing policies and procedures, managing reporting and reviews, and providing expert and trusted advice to ethics review bodies and the research community.

You will need to work collaboratively and consultatively with diverse stakeholders, prioritising high-quality and timely services, customer satisfaction, and continuous improvement. You will also work closely with the Senior Manager, Research Ethics, Integrity, and Governance to lead and develop a high-performing team and to deliver specialist and strategic advice to R&I and RMIT senior management and executive.

To be successful in this position, you’ll have:

  • Established subject matter expertise in research ethics and governance, preferably in the higher education sector, with a track record of providing expert and trusted advice to stakeholders.
  • Demonstrated skills in analysing, designing, and implementing improvements to significant business processes, policies, plans, and strategies.
  • Experience in developing and managing high-performing teams within complex organisations.
  • Excellent interpersonal and influencing skills, fostering positive working relationships, and building trust with staff and students across a broad and diverse research community. Along with an ability to motivate, influence, and coordinate internal and external stakeholders to achieve strategic objectives.
  • Strong analytical, problem-solving, and critical thinking skills, consistently achieving positive outcomes.
  • Extensive experience in systematic review, audit, policy development, and implementation of procedures and processes.
  • Proven experience in managing ethics and/or governance committees in academic or relevant environments, including appointments, terms of reference, and operating procedures.
  • Proficiency in research management and enterprise information systems, with a solid understanding of data integrity and governance.
  • Relevant tertiary qualification and substantial work experience.

Please Note: Appointment to this position is subject to passing a Working with Children and National Police Check.
