About CMY
The Centre for Multicultural Youth (CMY) is a not-for-profit organisation based in Victoria, providing specialist knowledge and support to young people from refugee and migrant backgrounds. Our vision is that young people from migrant and refugee backgrounds are connected, empowered and influential Australians.
About the Role
The Youth Intern is a position that incorporates skill and professional development and opportunity for a wide range of work activities including policy research, data analysis and administrative and secretariat duties.
This role was created with support of the Victorian Government’s Working for Victoria initiative, and as part of CMY’s commitment to providing opportunities for young people from refugee and migrant backgrounds, who often face significant disadvantages in attaining professional work experience and opportunities. Only people from a migrant and refugee background are eligible to apply for this role under the Special Measures provision section 12 (1) of the Equal Opportunity Act 2010 (Vic).
- Hours: 22.8 hours per week (0.6 FTE), Part Time
- Fixed Term: 10 months from commencement
- Base Salary (SCHADS Level 2): $55,387 per annum (pro rata) plus Super and access to Salary Packaging. (SCHADS pay rate will be in accordance with any award pay increase payable under the equal remuneration order instalments (Fair Work Decision) effective December 2020)
- Location: CMY Carlton Office (Due to COVID-19 restrictions, this role will require you to initially work from home)
- Interviews: to be held in the week beginning Monday 25 January 2021
You will have
- Demonstrated understanding of the issues experienced by young people from refugee and migrant backgrounds;
- Strong written and organisational skills with an ability to complete tasks in a timely manner;
- Well-developed communication and interpersonal skills with the capacity to work in a team and under general direction;
- Capacity to show creativity, flexibility and initiative in a work setting.
