About MYAN

Multicultural Youth Advocacy Network Australia (MYAN) is the national peak body representing the rights and interests of young people from refugee and migrant backgrounds – Australia’s national voice on multicultural youth issues. MYAN is auspiced and chaired by the Centre for Multicultural Youth (CMY).

MYAN works in partnership with young people, government and non-government agencies at the state and national levels to support a consistent approach to addressing the rights and needs of young people from refugee and migrant backgrounds in policy and service delivery. MYAN facilitates a national approach to youth settlement through its broad networks and partners in each state and territory. MYAN also supports the development of young people’s leadership and advocacy skills through national youth events and a national Youth Ambassador’s Network.

About the Role

MYAN is one of the peak bodies in Australia supporting the uptake of the COVID-19 vaccination among Australia’s culturally diverse communities. This work involves facilitating engagement of culturally and linguistically diverse youth as key communication stakeholders within CALD communities.

MYAN is seeking a part time Communications and Engagement Officer who will assist with the coordination and delivery of key communication activities as part of MYAN’s project. These activities will include: engaging with key stakeholders (including young people and MYAN partners around Australia), designing key communication pieces in collaboration with young people and providing advice to management.

This position is specifically for someone with lived experience as a young person from a refugee or migrant background, under Special Measures of the Equal Opportunity Act.

  • Hours: 22.8 hours per week (0.6 FTE), Part Time (Flexible days of work and hours negotiable)
  • Fixed Term: Until December 2021
  • Base Salary (SCHADS Level 5) : $ 82,774 per annum (pro rata) plus Super and access to Salary Packaging
  • Location: CMY Carlton Office
  • Interviews: to be held week beginning Monday 21 June 2021

You will have:

  1. Minimum two years’ experience in a design, communications, or media related role.
  2. High proficiency in Adobe Design Suite and video editing software.
  3. Strong knowledge of communication strategies across social media and web.
