We are looking for a lawyer who is passionate and committed to working in this rewarding area of legal practice. Experienced applicants, including accredited immigration law specialists, are also encouraged to apply.

The work will include preparing and lodging primary visa applications and merits review applications in the Administrative Review Tribunal in all areas of immigration and refugee law as well as cancellation and character matters under the Migration Act 1958 (Cth). We have a busy litigation practice and lawyers will also be exposed to this in their work with us, including advising clients, briefing counsel and attending court hearings. We have a substantial pro bono practice including strategic no win-no fee litigation at all levels including in the Federal Circuit and Family Court of Australia, Federal Court of Australia and High Court of Australia.

The position will include considerable client contact and autonomy but with supervision as required. The work is varied and intellectually stimulating. Candidates should be confident in dealing with clients from non-English speaking backgrounds. High level written and verbal communication skills are essential, as are advanced legal research skills. File and costs management, managing strict deadlines and excellent attention to detail are also critical.

The position is full-time and the salary will be commensurate with experience.
