About the Role:
Closer Care has casual vacancies for Community Support Workers (Disability and Mental Health/Psychosocial) with at least one year of industry experience (with the prospect of going permanent part-time within six months of committed hard work) in the following locations:
- Northern Beaches
- Inner West
- City of Sydney
- South Sydney
- South West Sydney
Closer Care is looking for committed support workers with at least 3-4 days of availability to join our wonderful team and help empower those we support. Some of our participants require support work one day a week, others require it multiple days a week. We tailor support plans around the needs of each participant to strengthen their independence and confidence in the home and wider community.
SOME OF THE KEY RESPONSiBILITIES OF THE ROLE:
- Encouraging participants involvement within the community;
- Assisting participants to achieve their plan goals e.g.) budget management, improve communications skills, expression of emotions.
- Supporting participants who without your prompting may not perform basic hygiene tasks such as hand washing, showering and brushing teeth, and daily living tasks such as cooking, cleaning and doing laundry;
- Transporting participants to therapy or doctor appointments, taking them shopping and completing other chores;
- Administrative component of the role: employees are required to have transparent and timely communication and note writing that is shared with support coordinators, Closer Care managers and fellow support workers;

- Have at least 1 year of experience in the community care industry or studying in relevant field
- Genuine desire to provide the best quality care for people with disabilities
- Demonstrate awareness of disability issues
- Excellent communication and proven computer skills
- Excellent ability in writing progress notes after every shift
What is Required:
- Current drivers licence and MUST own a reliable/registered and insured vehicle
- Clear and current: Working with Children Check, Australian Police Check, NDIS Workers' Check and First Aid certificate
- Three doses of the Covid-19 vaccine
- Qualification relevant to the role will be well regarded
- Three to fours days availability is a MUST
