About us

The Climate Risk Group is a company committed to quantifying and communicating the costs of climate change. Our mission is to influence decision-makers – large and small – towards action that directs global capital away from climate change-related activities and towards a net-zero carbon, high-resilience economy.

With 50 team members across Australia and Europe, the Climate Risk Group brings together XDI, with its finance and business focus, and Climate Valuation, which provides household-level insights into the costs of climate change. Our work leverages physical climate risk data, influence with global financial players, and grassroots momentum to create a compelling case for change.

Within our Web Services team, we're building a portal that combines all of our products and capabilities into one big, self-service platform. We're putting a bunch of our eggs in this basket, and have already sold it to one of the world's largest financial regulators.

We're seeking a detail-oriented critical thinker. If this interests you, please apply now by submitting your CV and a cover letter addressing how you will approach our challenges and why you'd like to work for The Climate Risk Group/XDI.

We are continuing to build our diverse and equal teams, people from traditionally under-represented groups are encouraged to apply.

The Role

Our Web Services product team owns the design and development of our self-service portal (Hub) that enables our resellers and commercial customers to access human-readable results, to scale the volume of sales, and provide sector-relevant insights with reliable climate risk information, empowering users to make climate-forward decisions for the planet.

As a Developer, you will bring your extensive experience in web application and software development best practices, working closely with our Product Manager to implement product designs efficiently and effectively. You will be responsible for building scalable products capable of supporting future growth plans, not only developing software solutions but also managing the technical roadmap, ensuring product performance and security, and collaborating with various stakeholders (including Climate Scientists and Data Specialists) to deliver a seamless user experience.

Proficient in a range of tools, including Next.js/React, TypeScript, Postgres (Supabase), and desired familiarity with RTK Query, Tailwind, Playwright, Docker, and Python, your exceptional collaboration and communication skills will allow you to lead productive, positive, and outcome-driven discussions and develop solutions together with other functions.

Come join us if you’re interested in helping us solving the following challenges:

  • Communicate climate risk in a way that conveys the severity and cost of inaction
  • Generate actionable insights and experiences for our customers, from complex data
  • Scale our analysis to thousands of customers, and billions of locations globally
  • Help our customers define adaptation plans to reduce their overall risk
  • Surpass even the most stringent security requirements by encrypting everything client-side
