    Welcome to CLCAC, established over 38 years ago in Burketown to represent the rights & interests of Traditional Owners. Our members are drawn from nine language groups whose traditional lands & waters are located in the southern Gulf of Carpentaria.

    Under the direction of the CEO, you will be responsible for the strategic leadership, professional development and management of the Land and Environment Unit, actively seeking out new funding and fee for service opportunities and engaging with with key stakeholders to continue the development of a sustainable land and environment unit. Your focus is to generate long-term benefits of the Traditional Owners and communities of the Southern Gulf of Carpentaria.

    In leading our Land and Environment team as the Land and Environment Manager you will be responsible for:

      • Actively pursuing new and emerging opportunities that align with our Strategic Plan and that build on current successes and further our goal of being the leader of sustainable indigenous community development;
      • Developing long-term land and environment plans with a regional focus that prioritise the protection of culture and the Southern Gulf environment, whilst expanding the program and supporting self-sufficiency;
      • Actively seeking out potential new partners, including government, research agencies, landholders and Philanthropic organisations whose values and principles align with those of CLCAC;
      • Create a culture of continuous improvement within the team, and support and build the capacity of Indigenous Rangers to conduct best practice land and sea natural resource management and knowledge required in the team to meet programme needs.

      You will be someone with relevant tertiary-level qualifications, who is dynamic, relationship and outcome-focused with excellent leadership and communication skills, and who shares our core values.
