Circle Green Community Legal is a community legal centre in WA providing state-wide specialist legal services in employment, workplace discrimination, residential tenancy law, family and domestic violence, and humanitarian services aimed at assisting people who are otherwise disadvantaged in their access to legal services.
Circle Green delivers legal advice, further assistance, casework, representation, duty lawyer services, outreach, community legal education, and advocacy to provide access to justice to the WA community.

About the role
As a Law Graduate within our Workplace team you will be involved in the delivery of high-quality supervised legal assistance to clients, including information and referrals, legal advice, case work, representation, community legal education, and law reform. The role may involve travel to locations across the Perth Metropolitan Area and to regional, rural and remote areas of Western Australia to provide outreach services.
The Workplace team provides legal assistance services to vulnerable and disadvantaged non-unionised WA workers on all aspects of employment and workplace discrimination law, including dismissal, wage theft, bullying, discrimination and sexual harassment.

Role responsibilities
Legal Assistance and Research
- Provide supervised legal advice, information, and referrals to clients.
- Identify and offer eligible clients further legal assistance in consultation with a supervising solicitor.
- Assist solicitors with legal research, further assistance appointments, casework, and law reform.
- Where directed or approved by a supervising solicitor, assist clients to prepare and lodge correspondence, forms, and legal documents.
- Assist clients with complex needs or significant legal issues to complete Circle Green’s client intake process.
Community Legal Education
- Contribute to the development and promotion of community legal education initiatives.
- Facilitate and present community legal education courses.
- Contribute to the development of specialised community legal education resources.
Administration and Reporting
- Maintain up-to-date, accurate, and comprehensive client records and statistics.
- Assist with general administration, file management, and data entry tasks as required.
- Assist in preparing internal and external reports.
Team Responsibilities
- Implement Circle Green policies and procedures, and act in accordance with the organisation’s mission and values.
- Participate in Circle Green team meetings, planning, and review activities.
- Assist in training of new staff and volunteers when required.
- Travel to locations across the Perth Metropolitan Area and to regional, rural and remote areas of Western Australia to provide outreach services.
- Carry out other duties, consistent with the role, as directed by the Managing Solicitor.
Selection criteria
Qualifications
- Law degree – recently completed or near completion.
- Current C class driving licence.
Experience
- Demonstrated commitment to human rights and social justice issues.
- Demonstrated capacity to interpret and apply the law.
- Genuine interest in relevant area of law.
Skills
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills, with the ability to understand and convey complex details to people to people from diverse social, cultural, and linguistic backgrounds.
- Good research, problem solving and analytical skills to identify issues and possible solutions based on relevant information.
- Demonstrated ability to work both independently and as a collaborative and supportive team member.
- Well-developed interpersonal skills, including conflict resolution skills and the ability to provide appropriate and responsive support to clients.
- Strong organisational skills with proven ability to prioritise work activities and deliver quality outputs to tight timeframes.
Successful applicants will also need a Working with Children Check, a satisfactory National Police Check, and proof of COVID-19 vaccination (or exemption).
Recently admitted / restricted solicitors and law students their final year may also be considered.
