Community & Events Manager

Chuffed.org

In one line:

Community and Events Manager role in rapidly-growing, funded, social-cause startup, changing the world.

Who is Chuffed.org?

We're a purpose-led company that's transforming how people think about charities around the world. Instead of thinking of the charity muggers harassing you on your way to work, we're making the face of charity awesome, exciting projects that people want to be part of.

Since launching in October 2013, we've raised over $25M for 8,000 projects in 20 countries. We've reunited a Somali refugee mother with her son that she hadn't seen in 23 years; we've helped legalise medicinal marijuana for the terminally ill; we've transformed how the Vanuatu Government does disaster relief... and a lot more.

What you'll be doing?

At a high level you'll play a critical part in our current focus of building our community of campaigners, help them connect with each other and helping them get the word out about the benefits of crowdfunding to people in their communities. We're building campaigner communities in each of the major capitals in Australia and around the world. You'll be focused primarily on Australia.

More specifically, you’ll be joining our Community Team in Sydney and will be responsible for:

  • Promoting and helping organise our community events in Australia and potentially internationally
  • Running our email outreach to make sure the right people hear about our events around the world
  • Direct outreach to new potential partners and attendees to build relationships and increase attendance

As you develop and become familiar with the crowdfunding content and our Community Members, you'll:

  • Run and facilitate events and workshops with our Community Members
  • Building relationships with Community Members to identify new events that we could do together

What we're looking for

Culture

  • You care: we're a purpose-led company and we love working with people who care about the world around them
  • You learn: because things change fast and a better way of creating value for our customers
  • You play nice: because we all love coming to work and we want you to too

Technical

  • Experience in event management, logistics of administration
  • You understand the admin side of running events and have the extreme high level of organisation required to make sure everything gets ticked off
  • You're able to work independently and be proactive in finding solutions when you get stuck
  • You're flexible and adapt to change - things move fast as we learn better ways of doing things

Bonus points

  • You’re curious about what customers value and what motivates them
  • You've got experience with large email databases and list segmentation
  • You've worked with the non-profit/charity/advocacy sector before

Why work for us

People come for the social mission, they stay for the team. We’re a fast-growing social enterprise, that’s backed by some amazing tech investors (Blackbird VC and Bevan Clark) but retains our social mission at our core. We even created our own legal structure over in Australia - the Social Benefit Company - to let us do that. We’ve worked in the social sector for years and changing how it raises money for the amazing work that it does is something that we deeply care about. We’re the place where you can do work that you care about and be part of a fast-moving company at the same time.

Meet us at the intersection of doing what you love every day and enabling people to take action on issues they care about.

Here are a few more benefits we have to offer:

  • Flexible work hours (within reason) and the ability to work from home a few days per week
  • Want to work from London for a while? No problem! Part of our team is there and they are always excited to have us visit
  • Ownership. You will have a say. In the product, the community culture and how we build it

The details

  • Based in Sydney, Australia: Surry Hills
  • Competitive salary package: we’ll normally pay a mix of cash salary ($45-50k) and potential equity (up to 0.5%).
  • You’ll report to the Head of Community (Sydney).
