Chisholm Incorporated is a supported crisis accommodation service located on the Northside of Brisbane, dedicated to providing safe and secure temporary emergency housing to women and children escaping Domestic and Family Violence (DFV).

About Chisholm:

We are committed to offering specialist DFV case management, emotional support, mobile support, and psycho-social- education to our clients. Chisholm supports women and children from all cultural and diverse backgrounds, operating from a feminist, strength-based framework.

The Role:

As a Domestic Violence Refuge Manager, you will oversee the daily operations of the refuge, ensuring that services are delivered efficiently and effectively, in line with Chisholm's values and mission. This position involves leadership, team management, client support, and a commitment to quality improvement.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Program Management: Lead the refuge, ensuring effective and compassionate service delivery to meet clients' needs.
  • Staff Supervision: Provide leadership and support to refuge staff, offering mentoring and regular feedback.
  • Client Support: Guide staff in providing practical and emotional support to clients, helping them navigate their immediate crisis and plan for the future.
  • Policy Compliance: Ensure adherence to funding guidelines, legislative requirements, and organisational policies.
  • Quality Improvement: Regularly evaluate and enhance client care and service provision to improve outcomes.
  • Financial Oversight: Monitor financial expenditure and ensure business operations are sustainable.
  • Administrative Duties: Oversee reporting, documentation, and rostering, ensuring compliance with employment agreements and legislative standards.

KEY SELECTION CRITERIA

  • Demonstrated understanding of domestic and family violence and its impact on women and children
  • Demonstrated capacity for collaborative leadership of a team of case managers
  • Demonstrated ability to be able to supervise case management, staff professional development and to promote team cohesiveness
  • Highly developed written and oral communication skills and computer proficiency skills
  • Demonstrated conflict resolution, crisis intervention and complex problem solving skills
  • Ability to be able to develop policies and procedures for the organisation and to prepare funding submissions and HSQF audits
  • A high degree of professionalism and well-developed interpersonal skills with a capacity to build effective relationships with a wide range of people including service users, employees, volunteers, peers within the sector, local community groups and government and non-government stakeholders
  • Demonstrated ability to be able to work with people from Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander and culturally and linguistically diverse backgrounds

About You:

  • A degree in Social Work or equivalent qualification.
  • At least 3 years of experience working in the Domestic and Family Violence sector.
  • Strong leadership experience, managing a team of case managers, reporting directly to the Management Committee.
  • Right to work in Australia.
  • Valid Blue Card and Police Check.
