ABOUT THE ROLE

The Senior Communications Manager will report to the Director, Advocacy and Engagement. This role can be located in Melbourne or Canberra, with hybrid working arrangements available. The role may involve some interstate travel.

You will lead a small team, have exceptional leadership and communication skills and be highly organised. You will be a trusted advisor to the CEO and Executive Team, and build productive relationships with internal stakeholders and contractors.

The key responsibilities are:

  • Lead the development of a new CHF website
  • Create our internal communication strategy and develop our SharePoint site
  • Ensure all our channels (digital, social and print) are continually improved
  • Write our annual report, key executive presentations and speeches
  • Contribute to the success of all CHF activities by providing communication advice to all parts of the organisation
  • Work independently and collaboratively across CHF to meet deadlines
  • Other communication projects associated with the delivery of CHF’s strategy.

ABOUT YOU

You should have:

  • Strong track record in communications leadership including people and budget management
  • Able to demonstrate successful improvement activities across the full range of communication channels (digital, social and print)
  • Experience in managing new website and/or intranet projects and using content management and CRM systems
  • Excellent written and interpersonal skills
  • Experience leading project teams and the demonstrated ability to operate effectively with colleagues and contractors
  • Ability to respond flexibly and work in a busy and complex environment where there are competing demands, changing priorities, tight deadlines and limited resources.
  • Well-developed computer skills in Microsoft Office including Word, PowerPoint and Teams, and Acrobat (PDF)
  • Commitment to achieving and upholding the CHF vision, mission and values.
  • Tertiary qualifications in a relevant field with post-graduate qualifications highly regarded.

Note: You must have the right to work in Australia and demonstrate the absence of a relevant criminal history to be appointed. A current Working with Children’s check is also required. This role is full-time, two-year term.
