ABOUT THE ROLE

The Research Manager reports to the Director, Advocacy and Engagement. This role can be based in either Melbourne or Canberra, with hybrid working arrangements available. The role may involve some occasional interstate travel.

You will:

  • oversee research activities that inform evidence-based policy 
  • manage our National Consumer Sentiment Survey and our online community Australia’s Health Panel
  • provide high level advice to CHF on policy activities that supports health system reform
  • engage and communicate with consumers
  • develop and maintain effective working relationships with key stakeholders
  • manage a small team 

ABOUT YOU

You should have:

  • commitment to achieving and upholding the CHF vision, mission and values
  • extensive experience in leading research in health or other human service policy areas
  • tertiary qualifications in a relevant field (post-graduate qualifications highly regarded)
  • high level knowledge and experience in using a range of quantitative and qualitative research methods
  • high quality written, verbal and digital health communication skills, including the use of digital platforms
  • demonstrated experience and expertise in conducting consultations and facilitating workshops 
  • experience in leading projects and the demonstrated ability to operate effectively in a team environment
  • proven ability to respond flexibly and work in a busy and complex environment where there are competing demands, changing priorities, tight deadlines and limited resources
  • well-developed computer skills in Microsoft Office including Word, Excel, PowerPoint and Teams, Acrobat (PDF) and some experience with using on-line engagement tools.

Note: You must have the right to work in Australia and demonstrate the absence of a relevant criminal history to be appointed. A current Working with Children’s check and/or Working with Vulnerable People check is also required. This role is offered on a full-time, two years fixed term basis.
