The Community Spirit Foundation (CSF) is on the lookout for a dynamic and experienced Chief Operating Officer (COO). A newly formed role for the organisation, the COO will work closely with the CEO and Senior Managers, to help realise the goals, aspirations and deliverables of the organisation. Playing a critical role in taking on and overseeing all operational aspects of day to day, project and key areas of work for the Foundation. If you have proven high level operations experience, enjoy working through operational matters to find solutions and deliver outcomes then this is for you.

The mission of the Community Spirit Foundation (CSF) is to work alongside remote First Nations Peoples and communities to enable their young people to fulfil their potential. We are a not-for-profit organisation that supports remote First Nations communities to empower young people and improve education outcomes. We provide opportunities for students, families, and the broader community to actively engage in education. Central to this is the building of self-efficacy, resilience, and the skills to develop personal goals. We do this by delivering a suite of programs that support some 1600 First Nations students in 4 remote communities. Two in the Northern Territory and two in Queensland. We have a Melbourne Head Office and local offices in our four Partner Communities.

Our organisation is entering an exciting time, which includes implementation of an updated strategy, more recently a name change. We are looking for an experienced COO to oversee our organisation’s ongoing operations and procedures.

  • This role is responsible for day-to-day operations of the Foundation, including but not limited to contract, legal and Board operations as well as day to day operations management and staff management / matters.
  • The role will implement systems and infrastructure required to drive and support the current programs and work, as well as the operations of the expected growth of the organisation.

There are currently 4 Senior Manager roles across the Head office team and an EA / Office Manager and while the CEO will have direct line management, the COO will play a key role on broader staff management, by meeting regularly and have a very strong and direct working relationship with each Senior Manager on all operations matters. The COO will act as a conduit ahead of things coming to the CEO for any finance, programs and partnerships areas of the business.

A great opportunity to step into a close-knit team, who work hard and with passion to make change and create impact. An opportunity to have a strong leadership role in the organisation and make the role your own. If this sounds like it is the job for you, then we want to hear from you!
