About the Role

We are seeking a dedicated and passionate individual to join our team as an Aboriginal Engagement and Support Officer. As a reputable and values-driven organisation, we are committed to providing holistic through care support to Aboriginal families, cultures, and communities.

  • Provide thorough support focusing on Indigenous wellbeing, community safety, and addressing intergenerational trauma within Aboriginal communities.
  • Actively engage clients, manage referrals, respond to crises, maintain documentation, and co-facilitate educational sessions for groups and community events.
  • Manage a small caseload, including identified case management requirements, and contribute to integrated service responses for Aboriginal families.
  • Develop and maintain collaborative relationships with internal and external stakeholders, ensuring cultural sensitivity in all interactions.

Selection Criteria

  • Proven experience and expertise in collaborating with Aboriginal individuals, families, and communities.
  • Extensive community engagement background, demonstrating adaptability in outreach environments.
  • Knowledge of the impact of domestic violence on individuals and families.
  • Comfortable mentoring young people and fostering positive relationships.
  • Demonstrated ability to work collaboratively with partnering agencies.
  • Previous experience living and working in remote/regional communities.
  • Valid Working with Children check.
  • Current National Police Clearance or willingness to obtain one.
