Are you a skilled bike mechanic who enjoys sharing your knowledge? Want to make a hands-on difference in your community? Join us at The Recyclery, Canberra Environment Centre’s Community Bike Repair Shed, and help build bike repair skills and confidence across our community.

We’re looking for a friendly, organised and capable project officer to run Bicycle Repair Training. You will work with our team to coordinate and deliver bike repair workshops as part of a new ACT Government–funded program. You’ll run engaging, beginner-friendly sessions covering the basics of bike maintenance – from fixing flat tyres to brake and gear adjustments – and support volunteers to get involved along the way.

This position covers 5 x Saturday hours (at Saturday pay rate $55.98) and 5 x weekday hours (preferably on Tuesday/Wednesday or Thursday) per week. Willingness to work Saturdays essential.

The role includes:

  • Delivering regular bike repair workshops at The Recyclery and local community locations
  • Supporting volunteers and creating a welcoming space
  • Helping manage tools and equipment
  • Promoting the program and contributing to a positive community atmosphere
  • Collecting feedback and assisting with grant reporting

What we’re looking for:

  • Experience with bike repair and maintenance
  • Confidence running small workshops or training sessions
  • Great people skills and a collaborative mindset
  • Strong organisation and reliability
  • Willingness to obtain a Working with Vulnerable People card and First Aid cert if you don’t already have them

Bonus points for:

  • Experience in a community setting or social enterprise
  • Familiarity with volunteer coordination
  • Interest in active transport, waste reduction or community education
