ABOUT CCWA
The Conservation Council of Western Australia is the peak body for conservation and environment groups in WA. For over 50 years, we have brought together community, scientists, and advocates to protect WA's extraordinary natural environment - from ancient forests to Kimberley coastlines.
We are a passionate, values-driven team. We believe that protecting nature is one of the most important things we can do, and we back that belief with action every single day.
THE ROLE
This is a newly created role, which means you will genuinely shape it. Working closely with our Fundraising Manager, you will help grow and deepen our community of supporters - the people whose generosity makes our work possible.
This role touches all parts of our fundraising program. No two weeks look the same, and that is intentional. Here is what your work will focus on:
Fundraising Appeals
- Help plan and deliver our major appeals each year, as well as additional fundraising activities.
- Draft supporter communications, coordinate logistics for mail-outs and digital campaigns, and help bring each appeal to life.
- Track how appeals are performing and prepare post campaign reports for the team.
Donor Stewardship
- Make our donors feel genuinely valued - prepare thank-you letters, impact updates, and personal touchpoints that strengthen long-term relationships.
- Maintain accurate, up-to-date donor records in our CRM database.
Supporter Survey
- Assist with our annual supporter survey - help write the questions, send it out, and collate responses.
Digital Fundraising
- Assist with our email fundraising campaigns, management of donation pages, and social media fundraising content.
- Monitor campaign metrics (open rates, donations, click-throughs) and share what the numbers are telling us.
Data & Reporting
- Help maintain our online giving platform(s).
- Produce regular reports from our CRM on donor numbers, retention rates, average gifts and appeal results.
- Maintain database accuracy by flagging data quality issues — clean, well-maintained data leads to better decisions.
Grant Support (up to $40,000)
- Contribute to grant applications by assisting with drafting content, gathering supporting materials, while meeting deadlines.
- Support acquittal reporting and maintain our grants calendar.
WHO WE ARE LOOKING FOR
We are looking for someone who is ready to grow into this work, someone with drive, an authentic and personable way of connecting with people and genuine care for the environment. If that sounds like you, please apply, even if your CV does not tick every box.
The qualities that matter most to us:
- This matters to you. You care about nature and CCWA’s mission. You do not need to be an expert in conservation, but it should mean something to you personally.
- You can write with heart. Writing comes naturally to you. You can craft a warm, genuine thank-you letter or a compelling email appeal that makes a person feel seen. You understand that words matter.
- You are organised and reliable. You can take a project from start to finish without someone reminding you of every step. You make lists, you follow through, and keep others informed when things change.
- You are reasonably comfortable with data. You are comfortable working in Excel, Google Sheets, or similar tools. You do not need to be a data analyst, but you should be able to spot a pattern in a table and tell us what it means.
- You are a fast learner with digital tools. You pick up new systems quickly and are willing to learn. Experience with a CRM sytem (like Nationbuilder or Raisely) is a bonus, not a requirement.
- You have some background in fundraising, marketing, or communications. Fundraising, marketing, communications, community engagement, events - any of these, in any form, tells us you understand how to move people to action. Volunteer experience counts.
- You thrive in a collaborative environment. You ask good questions and you welcome feedback. You are generous with your ideas and honest when something is not working.
WHAT WE OFFER
- A meaningful role in one of WA’s most respected environmental organisations.
- Close mentorship from an experienced Fundraising Manager - this is a genuine learning environment.
- Flexible 4-day hybrid work week.
- A collaborative, mission-driven team that genuinely enjoys working together.
- Professional development support, including access to sector training and fundraising networks.
- Fixed-term 12 month contract with a strong view to permanency for the right person.
- Salary: Level 4 Social and Community Services (WA) Interim Award
