Policy and Advocacy Officers x2 - WA Consumer Advocacy Network and Economic Abuse Reference Group WA

Consumer Credit Legal Service (WA) Inc
  • 2 x 0.4 FTE

ABOUT YOUR ORGANISATION

Consumer Credit Legal Service (WA) Inc. (CCLS) is a specialist community legal centre that provides free legal advice, representation, and advocacy to people in Western Australia experiencing issues with credit, debt, and consumer law. We support individuals who may face barriers to accessing justice, including those impacted by financial hardship, domestic and family violence, and systemic disadvantage.

In addition to our legal services, CCLS leads two key advocacy networks:

  • WACAN (WA Consumer Advocacy Network), which brings together advocates and organisations to champion consumer rights and drive policy reform that promotes a fairer WA economy.
  • EARGWA (Economic Abuse Reference Group WA), a collaborative group working to improve responses to the economic impacts of family and domestic violence through policy, legal, regulatory, and sector reform.

Together, we work to ensure people in WA have fair access to essential services, economic justice, and consumer protections.

ABOUT THE ROLE

We’re seeking two Policy and Advocacy Officers to lead and coordinate these networks and amplify community voices. This is your chance to be part of a values-driven team making real systemic change.

You’ll work alongside community, government, and industry stakeholders to identify issues, co-design solutions, and influence law reform and policy outcomes. This role is all about building momentum—connecting people, coordinating action, and advocating for long-term improvements in consumer protection and economic safety for people impacted by violence.

Flexible, collaborative, and impactful—these roles are perfect if you thrive on purpose and connection.

Each role is 0.4 FTE

ABOUT YOU

You’re passionate about social justice and have experience in advocacy, policy, or community development. You understand the WA and National political and legal landscape and know how to bring people together to influence change.

You’ll likely bring:

  • Experience working in or alongside advocacy or legal sectors.
  • Excellent communication and stakeholder engagement skills.
  • A strong grasp of systemic issues impacting consumers and people affected by economic abuse.
  • The ability to work independently and collaboratively, managing competing priorities with care and confidence.

Bonus points if you’ve worked in the for-purpose sector or have facilitation experience—but we value lived experience and non-traditional pathways just as much.

ADDITIONAL BENEFITS

  • Flexible work hours and working from home and in the office.
  • Salary packaging options to increase your take-home pay.
  • A supportive, purpose-led culture grounded in compassion, respect, and collaboration.
  • Access to professional development and wellbeing initiatives.
  • The opportunity to shape a growing, impactful network, making a real difference for people across WA.
