At Better Health Network, we’re reshaping the future of community health across Melbourne’s south-east — and we’re looking for an exceptional leader to help drive the next chapter of our Mental Health services.

This is more than a leadership role. It’s an opportunity to influence how integrated, trauma-informed mental health care is delivered in the community, while leading passionate multidisciplinary teams committed to making a genuine difference in people’s lives.

As part of BHN’s growing leadership investment, you’ll play a key role in strengthening services, supporting workforce capability, and creating meaningful outcomes for people experiencing mental health challenges and complex psychosocial needs.

Why this role stands out

You’ll lead across a diverse and impactful portfolio including:

  • Mental Health Hub
  • WorkSafe Outreach programs

Working within BHN’s integrated Mental Health, AOD and Gambler’s Help services, you’ll champion recovery-oriented, trauma-informed, and culturally safe practice while supporting innovative models of care that place people at the centre.

This is an exciting opportunity to

  • Lead and inspire multidisciplinary and lived experience teams
  • Influence service innovation and continuous improvement
  • Strengthen integrated community-based mental health care
  • Build psychologically safe, inclusive, and high-performing teams

About the role

Key responsibilities include

  • Leading and supporting multidisciplinary and lived experience workforces
  • Strengthening recovery-oriented and trauma-informed practice
  • Supporting staff development, supervision, onboarding, and wellbeing
  • Driving service quality, compliance, and continuous improvement
  • Building strong internal and external partnerships
  • Identifying emerging service needs and opportunities for innovation

About you

You’re a confident and compassionate leader who thrives in dynamic community settings. You bring strong clinical leadership, emotional intelligence, and the ability to create environments where both staff and clients feel safe, supported, and empowered.

You’ll bring

  • Relevant tertiary qualifications and professional registration in mental health, psychology, social work, occupational therapy, nursing, or related discipline
  • Experience leading teams within health or community services
  • Strong leadership, operational, and stakeholder engagement skills
  • Commitment to trauma-informed, recovery-oriented, and culturally safe practice
  • Experience supporting or working alongside lived and living experience workforces
