An exciting opportunity exists for an enthusiastic and experienced Allied Health Assistant to work in our Community Care Program.

Our Allied Health Assistants work within a multidisciplinary allied health team, providing support across all disciplines, however the role is primarily focused on supporting Occupational Therapy and Physiotherapy clients.

The role includes providing client education, group facilitation and support, equipment trial and installation within the scope of an AHA, assistance with equipment funding applications (e.g. SWEP / Geat 2 Go) and other administrative duties.

The target population includes people with, or at risk of, chronic conditions, people with multiple and complex needs and those from culturally and linguistically diverse backgrounds.

Responsibilities:

As an Allied Health Assistant your responsibilities will include:

  • Supporting physiotherapist led exercise groups.
  • Supporting occupational therapy clients with assistive technology.
  • Completing medico-legal documentation, funding applications and other administrative duties
  • Ordering supplies for various allied health clinics

Requirements and attributes:

  • Certificate IV in Allied Health Assisting from an accredited Registered Training Organisation/RTO or equivalent qualification.
  • Experience working as an Allied Health Assistant or in a related area, including supervising exercise groups and issuing aids and equipment.
  • Experience working in the aged and community sector, preferably in a Community Health setting.
  • Commitment to the Social Model of Health and Community Health Philosophy.
