About the opportunity

Volunteers will work with experienced Senior Lawyers working in a wide range of financial rights work including:

  • Consumer Credit Law generally
  • Irresponsible lending and unjust constructions
  • Assisting with cases in AFCA, QCAT and Courts

Consumer guarantees in relation products and services

conduct a range of task including

  • Research on legal issues
  • Taking notes and assisting with client interviews
  • Preparing draft advices and letters
  • Liaising with social workers and financial counsellors
  • Assisting with file and data management
  • Assisting with liaison with volunteer private law firms
  • Assisting with the conduct of cases particularly in the Australian Financial Complaints Authority and QCAT

We are looking for enthusiastic motivated and flexible students who are keen to learn and gain experience and contribute to the provision of legal services to vulnerable people.

The Financial rights team sits within the Financial Rights and Housing Security group which is under the broader umbrella of the Human Rights and Civil Law practice at Caxton. Opportunities may also arise to work in other Human Rights and Civil Law Areas of practice.
