Join this highly regarded national indigenous education charity and you will be helping to provide scholarship support for indigenous children across our nation seeking access to high-quality secondary and tertiary education opportunities. Your efforts will also support the Pathways Program which helps to empower these young Indigenous students to pursue their ambitions and make a successful transition to undertake further studies or careers.

ROLE

As Major Gifts Specialist, you will use your proven relationship fundraising experience to proactively engage and steward existing prospects as well as identify new potential donors with the capacity to make major gifts and endowment commitments.

Reporting to the Head of Advancement and working closely with internal and external stakeholders, this is an incredible opportunity to contribute to their major gifts fundraising strategy and make a real sustainable impact in the area of Indigenous education.

The role will suit an experienced fundraising professional with demonstrated experience in cultivating relationships and securing gifts, meeting targets and executing superior stakeholder management skills.

RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Ensure successful implementation of the Strategic Plan
  • Undertake research of known and potential high net worth supporters
  • Engage and cultivate new and existing prospects with the aim of soliciting major gifts of $50,000 or more.
  • Increase major giving securing new major gift, NCS and endowment commitments.
  • Assist with coordination of moves management process.
  • Coordinate, track and prompt Relationship Managers
  • Prepare proposals, solicitation and other cultivation and stewardship material for Major Gift and Mid-Tier prospects.
  • Assist with development of fundraising priorities and Case for Support.
  • Represent the organisation internally and externally.

YOUR SKILLS & ATTRIBUTES

  • Awareness and understanding of best practice fundraising and recent trends and guidance in relation to major donor fundraising.
  • Demonstrated experience in fundraising with proven history of closing major gifts or more.
  • Demonstrated high level application of fundraising principles, techniques and strategies.
  • High level verbal and written communication skills including creating proposals, impact reports and cases for support.
  • Exemplary interpersonal skills including effective listening, empathy, discretion, diplomacy and ability to build and sustain relationships.
  • Excellent interpersonal and relationship management skills with proven ability to collaborate effectively with internal and external stakeholders.
  • Practised in managing a prospect/sales pipeline using data to inform decision making.
  • Proven ability to plan, develop, deliver and monitor large projects with success in achieving agreed outcomes and timelines.
  • High levels of attention to detail and strong administrative skills
  • Positive can-do attitude with strong work ethic and ability to operate well in a team environment.
