CatholicCare Sydney’s Men and Family Relationships (MFR) program helps men build healthier relationships through counselling, case management, and group programs.
What you’ll be doing
Some of your responsibilities will be:
- Deliver a wide range of clinical and support services to men including intake assessments, group work, counselling, safety planning and case management and individual therapeutic interventions that are person-centred, strengths based and are delivered in accordance with relevant professional practice standards.
- Maintain practice that is Trauma and Domestic and Family Violence (DFV) informed, and which is in line with the principles of the Safe & Together Framework and is underpinned by a thorough understanding of individual and systemic intersections with DFV.
- Maintain a focus on the safety and well-being for clients and their families, including identifying and escalating risks, including risks of harm to children, in accordance with organisational policy and legislative requirements, including mandatory reporting obligations.
- Maintain a thorough and up to date understanding of the relevant provisions regarding Child Protection Reporting under Part 16A of the Children and Young Persons (Care & Protection) Act 1988 and Information Sharing under Part 13A of the Crimes (Domestic and Personal Violence) Act 2007.
- Maintain professional currency and familiarity with related literature and practices in relation to working with Men within Domestic and Family Violence frameworks.
What you will need
To be a successful candidate you will have:
- Relevant tertiary qualifications in Social Work, Counselling, Psychology or equivalent field plus demonstrated experience working with men in a therapeutic or community services setting.
- Demonstrated experience in appropriately identifying and responding to risk, particularly as it relates to Family & Domestic Violence.
- Demonstrated ability to articulate and utilise appropriate models of Change for Men who use abuse and violence
- Demonstrated experience in Facilitating Psycho-Educational Groups (preferably with men)
- Demonstrated experience in providing case management and/or counselling to individuals with an ability to apply systemic practice and theory
- Demonstrated ability to appraise and critically reflect on clinical work and participate in operational and clinical supervision
- Demonstrated experience in working with culturally and linguistically diverse communities and with Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander communities
