CatholicCare NT is a Catholic social service agency established in the Diocese of Darwin. We provide services throughout the NT, including service centres in Darwin, Palmerston, Malak, Tiwi Islands, Daly River, Wadeye, Jabiru, Maningrida, Katherine, Tennant Creek, Alice Springs, Santa Teresa, Titjikala, Finke and APY lands.

About the program

CatholicCare NT's Community Development Program (CDP) provides intensive case management support to address the needs of Aboriginal people seeking work, providing opportunities that lead to positive social and economic outcomes for families and community.

Purpose of the position

  • Provide leadership and support to Work Experience Mentors and Activity Engagement Officer across Santa Teresa, Titjikala and Finke communities.
  • Development and ongoing delivery of inclusive, engaging and culturally appropriate activities, tailored to the local labour market and community goals.
  • Ensure that activities incorporate meaningful community engagement in development and ongoing service delivery.
  • Attendance and participation in all Local Authority Group, Community Safety and other identified relevant community meetings across Santa Teresa, Titjikala and Finke and maintaining progress of record of action related to CDP provider.

What we are looking for

  • Minimum of two years recent experience in a leadership role including regular supervision of staff.
  • Strong interpersonal and communication skills.
  • Demonstrated cultural competency, particularly in working with Indigenous people.
  • Demonstrated ability to use technology including intermediate skills in Microsoft Office applications, Word, Outlook, and other electronic database systems.
  • Ability to comply with and fulfil all CDP program funder's requirements including monitoring of required performance outcomes.

This position is in Santa Teresa, an Arrernte indigenous community in the Northern Territory, Australia, located about 80 kilometres south-east of Alice Springs. This is not a FIFO role, living and working in a remote community is not for everyone, please consider this before applying.
