Carers Victoria is the peak body for unpaid carers. We are passionate about leading change and action to improve the lives of carers by representing and supporting them. We provide education workshops, programs and events across the State, as well as services and advice for carers in the Western Metropolitan region of Melbourne.

After significant changes to the carer services sector in 2020, Carers Victoria has adapted the ways in which we work to support carers. We are searching for passionate individuals who wish to join a “movement” of people working to make carers’ lives better. We are a member-based organisation that aims to ensure caring is a joint responsibility of family, community and government.

THE ROLE

The Assistant Accountant provides support to the Accountant ensuring key outcomes are delivered accurately on a timely basis.

Key aspects of the role include:

• Administration of payroll related activities. (payroll processing is outsourced)
• Processing of all accounts payable transactions
• General ledger reconciliations
• Month-end accounting processes
• Manage petty cash
• Other duties as directed by the Accountant

ABOUT YOU

To be successful in this role, you will have:

• Relevant tertiary qualification in Accounting, Business Studies or related areas and/or commensurate demonstrated experience in lieu of formal qualifications.
• Demonstrated experience in a similar accounting, book-keeping, payroll and finance areas.
• Proficiency in Microsoft Office programs, especially Excel.
• Well-developed numeracy, verbal and written expression and document management skills.
• Excellent communication skills, verbal and written, with applicable stakeholders.
• Able to prioritise multiple tasks and keep to schedules while dealing with interruptions and challenges as they arise, both personally and for overall finance and related functions.
