Care has been the main provider of financial counselling in the ACT for over 30 years. Our Financial Counsellors are community-based providing information, support and advocacy.

The Financial Counsellor works under the general direction of the Director. They are expected to have a high level of communication and technical skills.

The Financial Counsellor provides information, options, support, counselling, advocacy, negotiation and referral in a confidential and non-judgmental manner to people experiencing financial stress. This may include the exploration of relevant underlying issues impacting the financial well-being of the client(s).

The Financial Counsellor must be prepared to participate in professional development activities.

The position is open to those currently undertaking Diploma studies.

Full or part-time work will also be considered.

As with all of Care’s employment contracts the position is reliant on continued funding being available.
