EnergyLab

About EnergyLab

EnergyLab is Australia’s largest climate tech and energy startup accelerator and innovation network dedicated to reaching net zero emissions. We connect talented founders with the mentors, investors, peers, and partners they need to succeed. Since 2017, we’ve supported over 250 startups and 150 aspiring founders through a suite of programs across Australia and New Zealand.

We’re looking for a proactive and highly organised individual to join our small, high-impact team as a Coordinator, Program and Community. This early-career role will provide administrative and coordination support across our programs, events, marketing, and partnerships—helping us make our operations even more efficient and impactful.

About the Role

The Coordinator, Program and Community is a hands-on early-career role that offers a rare opportunity to work across EnergyLab’s most exciting activities—supporting startup programs, coordinating events, engaging with our vibrant community, and contributing to marketing and operations. You'll gain practical experience across the startup and climate tech ecosystem, build your professional network, and take ownership of meaningful projects.

This role is ideal for someone who is organised, proactive, and excited to grow into a future leader in climate tech innovation. You’ll work closely with experienced team members, gain exposure to high-impact startups, and have opportunities to contribute to strategy, execution, and stakeholder engagement.

Key Responsibilities

  • Assist with onboarding and offboarding processes for startup participants across a subset of EnergyLab programs.
  • Prepare and maintain program documentation, schedules, and resources using Google Workspace and Slack.
  • Coordinate and support logistics for events, including venue setup, speaker communications, event runsheets, and post-event follow-up.
  • Draft and publish newsletters, social media posts, and other promotional content.
  • Support the recruitment of startups and mentors through targeted outreach and research.
  • Assist with day-to-day coworking space operations and contribute to a positive member experience.
  • Research and maintain up-to-date records of investors, mentors, and ecosystem contacts in internal databases.
  • Support grant-related activities, including research, preparation of supporting materials, and basic copy drafting.
  • Help update EnergyLab’s internal documentation, playbooks, and knowledge base.
  • Represent EnergyLab at events and conferences to support community engagement and visibility.
  • Proactively identify and suggest improvements to internal systems, tools, and processes.
  • Opportunity to take on increased responsibility and ownership over time.

About You

You may have 1–3 years of admin or coordination experience and are looking for an opportunity to grow your skills and step into the climate tech ecosystem. You don’t need to know everything from day one—we’re happy to teach the right person who is enthusiastic, organised, and willing to learn.

You’ll be the kind of person who:

  • Can juggle competing priorities with confidence and calm
  • Is highly organised and loves a good checklist
  • Communicates clearly and professionally
  • Has a keen eye for detail
  • Can work independently but loves being part of a team
  • Is curious about climate tech and startups
  • Is familiar with GSuite, Slack, Zoom, Calendly, Monday and similar tools

Key Details

  • Location: Sydney (Haymarket HQ) with flexible remote work
  • Reporting to: EnergyLab's CEO with day-to-day direction from various team leads
  • Position: Full-time (or 4 days/week pro rata for the right candidate)
  • Contract: Two years with possibility of ongoing, subject to funding
  • Start date: As soon as possible
