CareerSeekers is a non-profit certified social enterprise that works with leading employers to create paid professional internship opportunities for people of refugee or asylum seeker backgrounds. We help unleash their talent in corporate Australia while getting employers to realise meaningful diversity aspirations. We work with both experienced professionals eager to reignite their career in Australia and university students seeking a pathway to graduate employment.
We are a pragmatic and professional organisation that achieves outstanding results both for participants and employers. We have an enviable rate of success with over 90% of participants in our programs securing ongoing professional employment, working with around 80 of Australia’s most well known employers.
The Advisor role is key to ensuring CareerSeekers delivers positive experiences and beneficial outcomes for our participants and employment partners. Advisors support a caseload of participants as they progress through the CareerSeekers program. They also work closely with managers of interns to make sure they are equipped to host their interns. Advisors may also work with central human resources contacts for some smaller employment partner relationships.
This role is in our Experienced Professionals Internship Program in Sydney. This program supports and connects refugees and asylum seekers who have professional qualifications and experience in their country of origin, with paid professional internships at leading Australian employers. With a very high success rate of conversion into ongoing professional work, this rewarding role provides potentially life changing opportunities for the people it supports.
While this is not a management position, Advisors bring and develop leadership skills in their role as a mentor to interns.
This role reports to the Program Director and works closely with a team of other Advisors and Seniors Advisors.
This position is located in Sydney and involves occasional travel to other states as part of the job. Our team adopts a hybrid schedule, working in the office three days a week and remotely for the remainder, though flexibility is needed to attend in-person events when necessary. In-office days are mainly for team meetings and collaboration, both formal and informal. Additionally, regular face-to-face interaction with participants and meetings with employment partners at their locations or project sites are essential aspects of the role.
This is a rewarding role with a successful and growing purpose-driven organisation. We are a small and close-knit team.
This is an opportunity to have a real, tangible impact on the lives of people from a refugee background, aspiring to a professional career. Be inspired by the life journeys of the amazing people in our program and work with our corporate partners supporting their leading diversity and inclusion initiatives.
CareerSeekers staff receive professional development opportunities, competitive remuneration with NFP salary packaging benefits and leave loading.
