The Opportunity

CARE Australia (part of CARE International) is an international aid organisation working to defeat global poverty by supporting women and girls to create lasting change in their communities around the world.

We are establishing a single Technology and Data Department that will bring together every digital capability at CARE and are seeking a dynamic CIO to lead this newly created function.

In this strategic leadership role, you will act as a bridge between technology and the broader organisation. You will provide strategic guidance to all business functions on technology initiatives, while leading the internal technology team and an ecosystem of external partners and consultants. The role oversees day-to-day service delivery, major system enhancements, data-analytics initiatives and cybersecurity oversight.

Key responsibilities include:

  • IT and Data Team leadership
  • Engagement with key stakeholders across the CARE Australia and international offices
  • Governance and Executive Team engagement
  • Develop and implement a future focused technology strategy and innovation
  • Architecture alignment
  • Compliance and Risk
  • Financial Management; and
  • Build and maintain stakeholder and vendor relationships.

About You

You are an experienced senior technology leader with a passion for purpose-driven work. In addition to your strong technical acumen, you bring a collaborative leadership style and a vision for how technology can empower a mission-based organisation.

You will have:

  • Significant senior leadership experience in IT, digital and data
  • Extensive leadership and people management skills
  • Proven success leading enterprise-wide technology strategies and initiatives
  • Demonstrated expertise in cloud infrastructure, cybersecurity and major system transformations
  • Strong financial and commercial acumen
