We have a role available in our Papua New Guinea program. This role is open to both international and national candidates.

About the Program:

The Economic and Social Infrastructure Program (ESIP) is an Australian Government Department of Foreign Affairs and Trade (DFAT) program implemented by DT Global.

Under strategic direction from DFAT officials at the Australian High Commission in PNG, ESIP is delivering a range of activities and policy initiatives in the energy, telecommunications and water sectors. ESIP is also supporting PNG’s state-owned enterprise performance improvement program and delivering social infrastructure planning, design and construction services.

Gender equity, disability and social inclusion (GEDSI) and social and environmental safeguards are a focus of the program and are mainstreamed across ESIP’s activities and operations.

About You

Reporting to the Deputy Managing Director and Director People & Culture, the Senior Manager - People & Culture will oversee and lead all human resource (HR) management aspects of ESIP. This position will work closely with the Managing Director, Deputy Managing Director, Director of People & Culture, and other senior managers to ensure effective management of the human resources function. The role will also be responsible for delivering key ESIP milestones, goals, and initiatives in a timely and compliant manner.

Selection Criteria:

To be successful for this role, you must possess the following, including, but not limited to:

  • Tertiary qualifications in human resource management or other relevant discipline.
  • A minimum 15 years of practical and demonstrated experience in human resource management preferably on donor-funded international development programs and/or complex corporate environments.
  • Demonstrated experience in effectively managing teams, and supporting change management processes.
  • Demonstrated ability to deliver timely and good quality report writing.
  • Demonstrated ability in HR policy development and implementation as well as proven ability to undertake high-level dialogue and develop strong and active working partnerships with other programs, donors and government officials in a public sector reform context, leading to realistic, meaningful and workable strategies and approaches.
  • An ability to interpret local labour laws and other regulatory requirements and seek professional advice when necessary.
  • Demonstrated ability to communicate cross-culturally, with sensitivity and emotional intelligence ideally with a sound understanding of PNG or Pacific development context.
  • Knowledge and / or experience of applying GEDSI and safeguards principles.
