Capability Support is a provider of services to people living in the community. Capability was founded on the premise that we can do better for people living with disability, children, youth and families in the community, by providing flexible, personalised, high quality and professional supports.

Capability is providing Residential Support to Children with varied needs, including some with behaviours that present as complex, and some on Youth Justice orders.

We are seeking professional, suitably experienced and qualified staff members to provide this service, with varied hours of engagements. Most shifts are between 6 and 8 hours in length and some are "stand-up" overnight shifts. The requirements of the role include supporting Children and Young People to live their lives in the community and remain safe.

Capability Staff will be required to support and supervise young people in their home and in the community, engage with our Therapeutic Specialists and provide trauma-informed support to Children and Young People.

As a Family Support Worker, you will be expected to undertake the following duties:

  • Supporting Children and Young People and communicating in a therapeutic manner in order to assist them to achieve their goals
  • Establish relationships with Children, Young People and Families to empower positive relationships
  • Supporting Children and Young People to comply with reasonable directions and bail orders;
  • Comprehensive report writing and note taking
  • Participate in Clinical Supervision and Therapeutic Support feedback
  • Participate in development of Support Plans for Children and Young People
  • Complying with relevant risk assessments
  • Compliance with relevant reporting bodies and legislation
  • Compliance with all relevant legislations, policies and procedures.
  • Provide and participate in appropriate activities with Young People.

Requirements:

  • Current Working with Vulnerable People Card (WWVP) or Children's Check (NSW)
  • Experience working with Children or Young People, and desired qualifications.
  • Police check undertaken in the last 12 months, or willingness to undertake one (this may include an International Police Check if you have lived overseas in the past 10 years)
  • Ability to undertake a CYPS Suitability Check
  • A valid Australian Drivers License
  • Appropriate Working Rights in Australia
  • Current First Aid & CPR Qualifications
  • Reliable, Insured Motor Vehicle
