Canteen is dedicated to supporting young people and their families affected by cancer. Founded by young cancer patients, our mission is to provide essential programs, services, and resources that positively impact the lives of 12-25 year-olds facing their own diagnosis, dealing with a close family member's cancer, or grieving the loss of a loved one. We believe in the transformative power of our team, and together, we aim to make a meaningful difference in the lives of those we serve.

Canteen has had a significant focus on building a strong Regular Giving income stream and as such, now holds one of the most successful Regular Giving programs in the country. We are now seeking a Philanthropy Manager to join our team where you will be responsible for cultivating, soliciting and stewarding a portfolio of major donors and major donor prospects; taking supporters on a journey of discovery and engagement with Canteen’s mission.

This is a high-impact role for a qualified Philanthropy Manager with a natural ability to connect and support.

• Build and nurture personal relationships with major donors to secure ongoing support for Canteen Australia’s mission to support young people affected by cancer.
• Support the team with the development and implementation of a comprehensive strategy for managing the major donor portfolio, aimed at achieving annual financial targets and KPIs.
• Work closely with internal teams to identify funding needs and develop first-class propositions for prospects.
• Support the design, management, and execution of a robust donor pipeline and stewardship plan, incorporating the delivery of engaging events, tailored communications, and other strategic interactions.
• Establish and lead a giving circle to engage donors in collaborative philanthropy, encouraging pooled resources and a collective impact approach to support Canteen’s initiatives.
• Provide the pertinent updates and information to key donors and partners, enhancing their engagement and support.

About You

• Proven experience in major gift fundraising with demonstrated success in securing high-value gifts.
• Exceptional relationship management skills with a track record of cultivating relationships with a diverse range of stakeholders to achieve mutually beneficial outcomes.
• Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to convey complex ideas clearly and concisely.
• A genuine passion for making a positive impact on the community and a commitment to supporting Canteen Australia’s mission, values, and objectives
• Strong analytical and critical thinking skills, with the ability to leverage insights for decision-making and the development of reporting structures.
• Proficiency in using a CRM database, such as Salesforce, for managing donor information and engagement.
• Outstanding communication skills and a natural ability to connect

*Due to the nature of Canteen’s work, you will be required to (very) occasionally work weekends and evenings. Advance notice will be given when this is the case, and Canteen does have a Time off in Lieu policy for taking leave as agreed with the supervising manager.

Employment Expectations
