About Us

Cancer Trials Australia (CTA) is a not-for- profit member-based organisation consisting of 33 clinical sites and 3 medical research institutes across Australia and New Zealand. We support the administration and management of clinical trials across both metropolitan and regional hospitals. We work in close partnership with clinical research sites, Sponsors and Contract Research Organisations to ensure patients can gain access to appropriate clinical trials as quickly as possible. About the Role

We are seeking a collaborative and values-driven People and Culture Business Partner to join our team. The position will report directly into the CEO and assist with supporting the development and delivery of people initiatives aligned with CTA’s strategic priorities.

The successful individual will work closely with a wide range of stakeholders to provide operational HR support across the entire employee lifecycle, including but not limited to recruitment and onboarding, learning and development, employee relations and compliance.

The People and Culture position supports the delivery and achievement of CTA’s strategic priorities in the following areas:

  • Acts as a trusted and strategic partner to the CEO, management team and supervisors to provide proactive people solutions.
  • Lead recruitment and talent management initiatives to attract and retain top talent.
  • In partnership with relevant stakeholders, support the delivery of learning and development programs at an individual and team level.
  • Champion a positive, inclusive, and safe workplace culture.
  • Provide guidance on employee relations matters, ensuring compliance with employment legislation, internal policies and best practice.
  • Support performance management and resolution processes with fairness and discretion.
  • Oversee HR policy updates, and continuous improvement of people processes.

About You

We are looking for a proactive HR professional with a passion for people and culture. You bring experience in partnering with leaders, compassionately navigating employee matters, and driving initiatives that enhance workplace wellbeing and performance. You will be approachable with the ability to maintain a high level of attention to detail, accuracy and confidentiality.

Qualifications and experience:

  • Tertiary qualification in Human Resources, Business Management or related field.
  • Minimum 5 years’ experience, with exposure in an advisory or Business Partner capacity.
  • Demonstrated competence in human resource disciplines including recruitment, employee relations, performance management, engagement and change management.
  • Strong understanding of employment law, HR principles and best practice.
  • Competent computer literacy skills, including the proficient use of Microsoft Office applications such as Word, Excel, Outlook, SharePoint and Teams.
  • Confident and experienced in dealing with various internal and external stakeholders to drive a customer-centric approach.
  • Ability to work in a fast-paced environment and prioritise conflicting timeframes and demands, whilst communicating and managing expectations.
  • Strong interpersonal skills with demonstrated ability to develop strong trusting relationships in order to gain support and achieve results.
  • Previous experience with a HRIS would be advantageous.
  • Previous experience working in the Medical or Clinical Research fields, and/or within a Not-for profit organisation would be highly regarded.
