The opportunity

As the Support Programs Coordinator, you will be responsible for the planning, coordination and delivery of a range of support programs and initiatives for people affected by cancer.

This important role plays a vital part in enhancing the wellbeing and quality of life of cancer survivors, their carers and families through evidence-based psychosocial support, peer connection and community engagement.

You will work collaboratively with internal teams, health professionals, volunteers and community stakeholders to ensure services are accessible, person-centred and culturally appropriate.

Based in Subiaco, this position is part-time (0.8 FTE).

What you’ll be doing

  • Planning, implementing and evaluating support group programs across metropolitan and regional areas in WA
  • Coordinating the multi-modal delivery of support groups and survivorship activities
  • Recruiting, training and supporting volunteer facilitators and peer leaders to deliver support group training
  • Collecting, analysing and reporting on program data, participant feedback and outcomes to inform continuous improvement
  • Develop and maintaining internal and external stakeholder relationships
  • Representing Cancer Council WA at events and community settings

About you

To be successful in this role, you will need:

Essential:

  • A tertiary qualification in public health, health promotion or a health-related field
  • 3+ years’ experience in coordinating health or community service projects as a program coordinator
  • Experience in monitoring and evaluation, including data collection and reporting
  • Knowledge of cancer care services and the Australian healthcare system
  • High level of proficiency with Microsoft Office Suite and project management tools
  • Strong organisational and time management skills, with the ability to manage competing priorities and meet deadlines
  • Demonstrated ability to work effectively with a range of stakeholders, including community members and health professionals
  • Excellent interpersonal, written and verbal communication skills
  • Demonstrated understanding of and commitment to the values of Cancer Council WA
  • Positive approach to the workplace

Desirable:

  • Experience in engaging with people affected by cancer, carers and priority population groups
  • Experience in group facilitation and an understanding of adult learning principles
  • Understanding of culturally safe practices
