Are you a qualified Social Science or Community Development and Planning professional looking for an opportunity to have a wide-reaching yet direct impact in the community? We are looking for an experienced individual to lead our dynamic, fast-paced team to deliver innovative and inclusive programs to Camden’s evolving, ever-growing and changing community.

your role

You will lead our Community Planning and Development Team who manage a broad scope of portfolios including social inclusion, youth, children, families, seniors and disability. You will guide the team, to ensure a welcoming connected and inclusive community for all individuals.

Using your extensive knowledge of the social sector to aid in coordination and development of social planning, social policy and demographic analysis you will ensure the delivery of community services which continue to meet the need of the growing and changing demography of our LGA.

Your thorough understanding of social justice, diversity and inclusion principles, along with your effective leadership, communication, presentation and facilitation skills will see you succeed in this role.

Essential:

  • Tertiary qualifications in community development and planning, and/or social science, or equivalent;
  • An understanding of and commitment to social justice principles;
  • Experience in a supervisory role with demonstrated skills in providing effective leadership, mentoring and motivation of staff;
  • Demonstrated experience in community planning, including consultation, research, data analysis and strategy development;
  • Experience in policy analysis and development, especially in the fields of social infrastructure and social policy;
  • Experience in developing programs and strategies in response to identified community needs;
  • Understanding of Social Planning and Integrated Planning and Reporting;
  • Demonstrated skills in managing budgets and financial reporting;
  • Ability to apply EEO, WHS and ethical practice principles and to act with probity at all times.

Desirable:

  • Experience and understanding of local government and its context;
  • Demonstrated understanding of the issues faced in new and fast-growing communities.
